I'd be interested if you could forward me info (including jpg images) of your Blue Ridge Parkway Motorcycle Tags program and its progress. (Don't recall having received anything as yet) Thanks. Send to editor@gwrra.org.

The DMV site still says that specialized MC tags are not available. Any chance of getting these folks to help out?

Contacted the two motorcycle groups I'm affiliated with....Smoky Mtn HOG chapter and Buncombe County CBA/Abate and have sent the following message to e-mail and newsletters of those groups:

Also sent this to other buddies that ride...

If each of us 121 that have already ordered our tags can get one or two more buyers...........

Good Luck!!

Blue Ridge Parkway Motorcycle tags
The Blue Ridge Parkway Motorcycle Tag program needs more participants. As of Feb. 7th, they have 121 of the 300 applications needed to put this tag into production. I ordered mine in October, if you ordered now, you could get a really cool low numbered plate. The BRP tags are $30.00 (plus the $18.00 renewal fee) and $20.00 of the $30.00 goes to the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation. They have a system figured out so you can purchase a BRP tag anytime, regardless of your renewal cycle. We are blessed with one of the greatest motorcycle roads in the country in our backyard, lets support it....details and ordering info at www.brpfoundation.org

Some suggestions once you get the counter cards. (And I don't mean to be insulting, I'm sure you've probably thought of at least some of these, but....)

Motorcycle Dealerships: Two I'm very familiar with, and known at: Team Powersports, Garner, NC (the top Honda dealership in the area); Boone Action Cycle, Villas, NC. In both these places I know specific people if for some reason your initial contacts are not promising. (Though I can't imagine why they would not be.) Ray Price is the major Harley dealer in the area.

Also, there are a number of motorcycle campgrounds I'm aware of, as well as Station's Inn, a motel on the Parkway catering to motorcyclists. Finally, of course, get them to Deals Gap ASAP. You have my email address so feel free to get back to me for any additional info on, or help with any of the above.

Houck,

I have ordered mine! I got a stack of forms and took half to the Charlotte BMW/Duc/Triumph shop and the other half to my Gastonia Suz/Kaw shop. The word is getting out slowly.

Oh, yeah, the link in the letter didn't work but I found you anyway! See you at the (bicycle) races!

I've tried everything I know of. I notified the District (which means State) Director of GWRRA, Dennis Hull, and he sent a notice out to all Chapters. I also saw another notice go out to NC - GWRRA members last week.

I would suggest you contact Sharon Stanley [ 623-581-2500 editor@gwrra.org ] the editor of Wing World. This is the monthly magazine of GWRRA. Ask about perhaps a feature article, some sort of notification, or (at worst) what an ad would cost.

Good luck. I sure want this to succeed.

Contact the GWRRA to reach Gold Wing riders who will surely be excited about the special tags.

By the way, your mailing web log address does not work. I had to do a google search to find you.

In my opinion, your advertising campaign was directed toward the incorrect audience. I believe you should be targeting riding organizations such as:
GWRRA, COG, MotorMaids, HSTA,
Harley Owners Groups for example. Also, you should contact Road Runner magazine,
an excellent motorcycle touring magazine, whose headquarters are in Clemmons, North Carolina. Another good magazine to contact would be Rider magazine. There are motorcycle only campgrounds in North Carolina that would also be a good place to advertise these tags.

I am hopeful these tags will
soon be available.

I've tried to renew my motorcycle tag via the web, and opt for the BRP tag, but the NCDMV doesn't provide that option. If they could include that option in the tag renewal process, it would surely increase the number of tags applied for.
