While some of the leaves have already dropped at the higher points, the show continues to evolve at the lower elevations and it seems to change every day. Continuing further south from Graveyard Fields, I’ve seen some nice color descending to the US 74 exit near Waynesville and the area around Soco Gap (US 19) near Maggie Valley.

This year doesn’t seem to be one of those where all the leaves came in at once in one big bang – rather, it’s a more gradual turning which is prolonging the enjoyment. If you’re still planning your visit, there’s a lot of green left on the trees in places so you’re sure to have plenty to enjoy. I saw some great color passing through the Linville area a couple days ago.

I’ll have to stop there on my Motorcycle Ride of the Blue Ridge Parkway in a couple of weeks.
