Code of Conduct
The main purpose of the Blue Ridge Parkway Blog is to foster a community of Parkway enthusiasts in a manner that allows all of us to share our own individual experiences pertaining to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We feel this community is much like a family, where mutual respect, courtesy, and education are key components to maintaining a healthy online community.
The opinions you read on this site are those of members of the Blue Ridge Parkway Blog community, and not necessarily those of the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, National Park Service, Virtual Blue Ridge, or Horizon Mediaworks, LLC.
Due to the diverse nature of our community members, we wish to remind everyone who uses, reads, and/or comments on this site to maintain civility at all times. Accessing this site means you agree to be bound to these terms, and that any disagreement will be kept within the bounds of respect for fellow community members.
Content is defined as anything published on the site, including but not limited to posts, comments, poll responses, forum messages, video, audio, images, text, etc.
Unacceptable content will not be allowed and is defined as content that:
- is used in an abusive, harrassing, stalking, or threatening manner against a person, persons, or entity
- is knowingly false or misrepresents another person, i.e. libelous or defamatory
- infringes upon any patent, trademark, copyright, or trade secret of any outside party. (If you quote or excerpt someone else’s content, you are responsible for proper attribution to the author. For a clear definition of what fair use is, and how to provide proper attribution, please visit the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s Legal Guide for Bloggers.
- contains material that has been paid for or commissioned by a third party, and/or contains paid advertising links and/or SPAM. SPAM (or “Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages” is defined as anything that qualifies as unrelated to the discussion at hand and is clearly posted in an advertorial manner. This includes links to other advertising or e-commerce sites or other more insidious forms.
The Blue Ridge Parkway Blog’s co-founders decide how “unacceptable content” is defined on a case-by-case basis and our definitions are not limited to the list outlined here. We reserve the right to change these standards at any time with no notice. We also reserve the right to remove links and/or comments at any time.
